Welcome to the Socrates Academy Chess Club, a new chess club or chess circle in Hiroshima, Japan!  

Play chess and speak English with our members in a chess cafe or coffee house style chess club!

• Blitz, rapid, or longer classical game training and practice

• Short lecture, chess video analysis, or presentation in English by players and members

• Chess study, game analysis, and chess training in English

• Snacks, coffee, tea, and other free drink service
  (Members can also bring snacks to share!)

3rd & 4th Chess Club/Circle at Socrates Academy!

Date: Saturday, 2026/08/08 & 2026/08/22

Time: 12:30 ~ 15:30 or later

Who: Play or learn chess while speaking English with experienced players rated 1900 to 2350 on Chess.com and Lichess.org. One young member is a beginner elementary school student.

Please come if you want to improve at chess and play with strong players!

Equipment: Projector or magnetic white board for lectures or analysis by players.

Bring: Please bring extra chess sets or clocks! We have 1 tournament set and clock at Socrates Academy, plus a few smaller sets. Members are encouraged to bring their own tournament sets and clocks.

Fee: 1,000 yen fee per player-member. Students of Socrates Academy join free!

Parking: Please use nearby coin parking if coming by car. Bicycle parking available.

Contact: Email info@socratesacademy.org to tell us if you're joining. It's a small or medium size space, but we have 4 tables and can fit around 10 people. You can come directly on the day of the Chess Club, but please email first if possible.
